Heading north,
Golden Heather is
another Scotch,
this one from
Paten & Co. of
Peterborough. It is
probably 1950’s
and 5cl and it
certainly sold for
£20. The Old
Crypt Scotch is
from Quellyn
Roberts & Co. of
Chester(Deva to
the Romans as
we have a Roman reference later). Most
likely 1950’s. It sold for £20. The two The Old
Firm Scotch bottles are from Whitwell, Mark
& Co. of Kendal. £6 bought the flask and £10
bought the round bottle. Both are about 50ml.
From the ‘Gateway to The Lakes’ we follow
Hadrian’s Wall to Newcastle.
R.O.L. is a Scotch from Newcastle Breweries.
It is probably 1940’s, probably 50ml, and sold
for £20. James Deuchar bottled the next
Scotch without a brand name. Again,
probably 1940’s, probably 50ml, and this one
sold for a disappointing £9. The Eldon is a
name very much associated with Newcastle
with Eldon Square being the main shopping
centre (on the north side of the Tyne River
anyway). It is yet
another probably
1940’s, probably
50ml, bottle. It was
bottled by F. M.
Laing & Co. and sold
for £20.
I’ve abandoned the
north/south theme
and now present a whole raft of 3cl
bottles that most collectors assume
are bottled in Scotland – they
aren’t. Drinks by The Dram,
formerly Master of Malt, is owned
by the beer giant ABInbev. It is
mainly a re-bottler of not only
Scotch but almost any other sprits
