Historical figures #5N
Robert E. Lee
Robert Edward Lee (1807-1870) is another historical figure that will need no
introduction to most of our readers. Robert was an officer in the US
Army for 32 years, rising to the rank of Colonel, and serving with
distinction. He decided to side with the Confederate States in the
US Civil War and was immediately promoted to General.
He served as the Senior Military Advisor to the Confederate
President before becoming commander of the Northern, and most
important, of the Confederate Armies. He served The South well
but, when the situation was obviously hopeless, surrendered his
greatly depleted army rather than have them slaughtered. This was
effectively the end of the US Civil War.
On the far left we have a
piece from Grenadier
which may or may not
be a sample bottle. Next
to it is a bottle by
Pancho Villa but this has
also appeared with the
Grenadier label. The
above bottle is from
McCormick.
The three straights (there are more) of
Colonel Lee are a brand that is now
owned by Sazerac.
