As far as New Zealanders are concerned the Leilani Hawaiian Rum is by
far the most common Hawaii bottle we see, although it is no longer sold
here, and probably not anywhere at all.

We think of Hawaii as a US state these days but this has not always been
the case. Hawaii was close to the British (hence the Union Jack on the
state flag) but never a British colony. The Hawaiian Kingdom became a US
protectorate at the end of the 1800’s and in 1900 became a self governing
                                                          th
US territory. It became the 50 , and so far last, US
State in 1959. There are few bottles around now that
relate to the Territory status but the Dawson’s
Scotch is one with a Territory importer’s label.

Song Sub Club Hawaiian Vodka was actually bottled
                           in Malaysia.

The final bottles are Hawaii and Hawaiian Island
bottles from Coca Cola. There are more of these.
