Country Calendar (a popular NZ farming TV program) last night (1 May) featured a
st
barley farmer from Southland who decided to add value to his crop 5 years ago by
making whisky. Auld Farm Distillery will release it’s first whisky as an 8yo in 2025. They
are interesting in that they are experimenting with different varieties of barley, including
rare heritage varieties, and are also distilling other grains from the farm. You can buy an
aging cask, https://www.aulddistillery.co.nz/casks.

these last month from Black Bull Liquor in
Porirua and got the last Peach vodka, the
other is Original Vodka. Both are 100ml, 40%.
They were made by Welove Group Ltd but this company went into liquidation in March last year so I have no
idea if they are still being made. The MeMax web site is still up, https://www.memax.co.nz, and they do mail
