Historical figures #6N

                                                      Elvis

Elvis Aaron Presley (1935 – 1977) is another figure that needs no introduction as he
was one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. He is afectionately
referred to as ‘The King of Rock and Roll’ or simply ‘The King.’

Elvis rose to fame in 1956 and had a string of hits for almost 20 years. This was
interrupted by two years as a conscript in the US Army, rising to the rank of
Sergeant. In later years he got hooked on prescription drugs and put on a huge
amount of weight. His death was a sad one at only 42. His home, Graceland, is a
major tourist attraction in Memphis, Tennessee and is close to a pilgrimage site for
               his many, ageing, fans.

There are so many Elvis minis I have written two Elvis articles, one for NZMBC and
one for MMBC. All the McCormick minis are shown, half in each article, but the 5
Pepsi micros and Gracelands are shown in both.
