The family firm of Osborne
was founded in 1772 by
Englishman Thomas
Osborne Mann. They first
produced brandy in the
late 1880’s. They are now
definitely Spanish
nationals and the name is
pronounced Osbornnay.
The strange looking bottle
is said to be a duck but to
me it looks like an old
fashioned toilet with the
long pipe running down
from the cistern above your
head. I wonder how much
Salvador Dali
was paid to
design the
bottle. Regardless of looks the bottle contains Conde
De Osborne which is the company’s top brandy with
an average of 20 years. It will also contain less fruit
than your average Spanish brandy.
Veterano is their
entry level brandy
with an average age
of 3 years.
Independencia is
between these
levels at 10 years of
age. Their 5 year
old Magno is one of
Spain’s top selling
brandies. I
don’t have
one of these,
if you have a
spare one I
will gladly
offer you a
trade to your
advantage.
